One home team still in contention at Espinho

 
Espinho, Portugal, July 7, 2018 – While the men’s main draw continues in full swing at the Espinho four-star stop on the 2018 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, the women’s semifinals and medal matches will be the highlight on Saturday’s programme and will be streamed live on the FIVB YouTube channel.


The only home team still in contention on the Atlantic coast of Portugal, Roberto Mauro Silva Reis and Fabricio Silva, will open the centre court for business at 09:00 local time on Saturday with their first elimination round match against USA’s John Hyden and Theodore Brunner, seeded seventh.

In the next batch of first-round matches, the centre court sand will be graced by the performance if Cuba’s Diaz Gomez Nivaldo Nadir and Sergio Reynaldo Gonzalez Bayard and Italy’s Enrico Rossi and Marco Caminati.

The men’s second elimination round and quarterfinals are scheduled for later on Saturday.


The first women’s semifinal, between USA’s Sara Hughes and Summer Ross and Australia’s Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho, is set to start at 12:15, to be followed by the second one, between Brazil’s Maria Antonelli and Carolina Solberg Salgado and Poland’s Kinga Kolosinska and Katarzyna Kociolek, an hour later.

The bronze medal match will start at 16:30. The first whistle for the big women’s final will sound at 17:45. The women’s awarding ceremony will be held immediately after the gold medal match.
