With the last FIVB gold medal match on March 15 in Malaysia, the title win Sunday in Ljubljana by Line Hansen and Clara Windeleft in the All-Danish finale marked the first-ever women's gold medal for their country on the World Tour since the start of sanctioned international beach volleyball events for the gender in August 1992.

After Hansen and Windeleff defeated compatriots Sofia Bisgaard and Cecilie Olsen in the two-set women's gold medal match, Italians Andrea Abbiati and Tiziano Andreatta upset top-seeded Austrians Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst in the three-set men's finale.

The win for Hansen and Windeleff was accomplished in their first-ever FIVB event together as the Danish pair became the eighth women’s team to top a World Tour podium in their inaugural appearance together on the international circuit.

Abbiati and Andreatta reached the top of a World Tour podium for the first time in 18 FIVB appearances together. The Italians, who placed fifth in their last FIVB event at the end of February in Cambodia, placed third in a World Tour event in March 2018 at Muscat, Oman.

A new Baden's women's champion will be crowned as host country favourite Katharina Schützenhöfer is still recovering from injury and her partner Lena Plesiutschnig will play with Dorina Klinger.
