Manila, Philippines, May 5, 2018 – Japan’s Ayumi Kusano/Takeshi Nishibori and Sakurako Fujii/Shinako Tanaka, Spain’s Maria Belen Carro/Paula Soria and Paraguay’s Erika Bobadilla/Michelle Valiente reached the women’s semifinals of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Manila Open on Saturday.
Take/Kusano and Sakurako/Tanaka advanced to the semifinals of the Manila Open in contrasting styles, with the former securing their spot with a swift win over Thailand’s Pawarun Chanthawichai/Thatsarida Sinngchuea 2-0 (21-19, 21-16) and the latter with a tough tiebreak triumph against the Philippines’ Angeline Gervacio/Cherry Rondina 2-1 (21-13, 17-21, 15-11).Quick links - Beach volleyball:

Soria/Carro rallied from a set down to knock out Germany’s Leonie Klinke/Lisa-Sophie Kotzan 2-1 (19-21, 21-14, 15-13.), while Michelle/Erika defeated USA’s Lindsey Fuller/Kaley Melville in similar fashion 2-1 (17-21, 21-19, 15-12).
