Jancar and Kotnik claim top podium spot in Siofok

Siofok, Hungary, August 26, 2018 – Slovenia’s Tjasa Jancar and Tjasa Kotnik asserted its might as they captured the gold medal in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Siofok 1-star at the Plasz Siofok Nagystrand on Sunday.

Jancar and Kotnik went through a tough test as their counterparts Sara Cavretti and Sofia Wahlen of Sweden put up some resistance in the first set of action. However, the Slovenian pair still had the better performance and won the match 2-0 (21-19, 21-12).

“We didn’t expect ourselves to be successful, I’m very happy,” Jancar said.

“Last year we were in the reserve list, but this year we got it. I love Siofok, one of the best tournaments,” Kotnik added.

In the bronze medal match, Japanese duo Satono Ishitsubo and Asami Shiba played with a lot of confidence to easily record a victory against young Polish pair, who grabbed silver two weeks ago in Vaduz, Agata Ceynowa and Martyna Kloda 2-0 (21-14, 21-17).

The 22-year old Japanese girls claimed their second medal after topping the Manavgat 1-star podium earlier this year in Turkey.
