The Norwegians will end the year as Hamburg 2018 FIVB World Tour Finals gold medallists. They also won three gold medals on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, having failed to progress beyond the quarterfinals in previous seasons.

Their third gold came last week when they defeated Poland’s Grzegorz Fijalek and Michal Bryl in the Las Vegas 4-Star gold medal match.

The pair received their award from FIVB TV & Marketing Director Guido Betti during a Beach Volleyball Session at the Red Bull Energy Station at the SPORTEL Awards in Monaco.

At the Hamburg 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, Mol and Sorum will be aiming to improve on the bronze medal that their compatriots Vegard Hoidalen and Jorre Kjemperud won at the Klagenfurt 2001 World Championships, and in doing so become the second Norwegian team to win a World Championships medal.

Mol and Sorum are joined by Brazilians Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda 'Duda' Lisboa in receiving the honour this year. The Brazilian women’s pair also wrapped up a strong season by claiming gold at the World Tour Finals in Hamburg in August.

The Chetumal event is currently taking place in Mexico and runs until October 28.
