Spain’s Soria and Carro make winning 3-star debut

Qinzhou, China, September 30, 2018 – FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour 3-star debutantes Paula Soria and Maria Belen Carro earned a spot in the main draw after a tie-break win at the Qinzhou qualification round.

The Spaniards kept their composure to overcome their setback in the opening frame and pushed hard to win 2-1 (20-22, 21-18, 15-7) in their 3-star event match debut against Japan’s Satono Ishitsubo and Asami Shiba.

“It was a wonderful win,” Carro said. “It’s our first time in a 3-star event and just making it to the main draw is already great.

“We led the entire time in the first set, but they managed to get the win. We came back stronger in the next set. We played more relaxed and had a great time out there.”
