Ana Patricia: China brings me good luck

Yangzhou, China, October 11, 2018 – Brazil’s Ana Patricia Silva Ramos is competing in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Yangzhou 4-star and the young star admits that China has brought her so much luck in her playing career.

“I have won three tournaments in China,” Ana Patricia said. “All the big victories in my young career happened in this country. China brings me so much good luck.”

Ana Patricia claimed three gold medals on Chinese soil – her first two in Nanjing with Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda). She won her first medal at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games, then seized the gold medal at the FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championship, beating Russia’s Nadezda Makroguzova and Svetlana Kholomina.

Ana Patricia once again topped the podium, together with Rebecca Cavalcanti, at the FIVB World Tour 3-star event in Qinzhou, where they rallied to an exciting 2-1 finish against Italy’s Marta Menegatti and Viktoria Orsi Toth.

The 20-year-old is hoping that her luck in the Asian country will remain as she faces tough competition at the Yangzhou 4-star.

“I hope that this place will bring me more luck at this event because we’ve worked so hard to be here.”

Ana Patricia and Rebecca won their first match and will face their compatriots Barbara Seixas and Fernanda Alves in their second pool play match on Friday, October 12.

“There are many great teams in Brazil. Rebecca and I have been playing well in the Brazilian Tour, but Barbara and Fernanda are the best pair in the World Tour. My main focus is just to play hard and to continue playing well. We hope we can play well against them.”
