The pair was awarded one of the three “wild cards” for the 2017 FIVB World Championships as both players will be competing in the prestigious event for the first-time. The 19-year old Holzer has only competed in a FIVB youth world championship with a ninth at the 2016 under-21s with Julia Radl. Strauss started playing in FIVB events in 2012 and has netted three quarter-final finishes in youth world championships with her sister (Nadine). The Strauss sisters had a fourth earlier this season at a FIVB World Tour stop in Malaysia.
