The Hague, Netherlands, November 1, 2018 - The FIVB World Tour returns to The Hague for the ninth-time with the 2019 event marking the first event of the calendar year (January 2-6) and the second time the Dutch city has hosted an indoor tournament only at the Sportcampus Den Haag.
Teams from Latvia and the United States captured the 2018 men's and women's gold medals, respectively, with Americans Alix Klineman and April Ross scheduled to defend their title.
While Martin Plavins and Edgars Tocs became the first Latvian team to win a men's gold medal in The Hague at the 2018 event, Klineman and Ross broke a string of seven-straight titles for Brazilian women's pairs in The Hague, including a podium-topping performance by Agatha Bednarczuk/Barbara Seixas from the South American country at the 2015 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships.
The first four events (2009, 2019, 2011 and 2013) in The Hague were held exclusively at Scheveningen Beach before the 2014 and 2015 tournaments featured various sites in the Netherlands. The 2017 event was played on both indoor and outdoor courts at Sportcampus Den Haag.
