Rain cannot stop beach volleyball vibes on Day 2 of Vienna Major

Vienna, Austria, August 2, 2018 - Players and fans showed their passion for beach volleyball and put on a huge show despite heavy rain in the afternoon of the second day of the A1 Major Vienna presented by Swatch.

The Austrian capital has got beach volleyball fever and thousands of fans visited the impressive site of the Vienna Major on Danube Island to be part of the biggest party of the year.

Centre court was standing room only on day 2 of the first-ever Beach Major Series event in Vienna.

And not even the heavy rain showers in the afternoon could kill the beach volleyball vibes. While the games were postponed for over an hour, volunteers and fans were having a blast in the rain.

And Day 2 definitely was Alexander Brouwer/Robert Meeuwsen’s day. The Dutch started with two wins, which made it time for a joyful leap – and an interesting dance move – by the team ranked third in the world.

In the early evening, on the other hand, it was 2017 European champions Daniele Lupo and Paolo Nicolai who kept their dreams of winning the Vienna Major crown alive as they prevailed in a true nail-biter. The two Italians are poised to do better than last year, when they finished 17th.
