Poland eliminated Spain

Michal Bryl / Grzegorz Fijalek Poland (9) def. Adrian Gavira / Pablo Herrera Spain (6) 13-21, 21-12, 15-12 (41)

Grzegorz Fijalek, Poland - “In the first set we started really bad, a lot of crazy mistakes but after the first we tried to concentrate on our side, that was much better for us. We’re happy we won against them because in the last few weeks we lost to them very easy in the European Championships so it was vengeance. We will fight, it’s the final (of pool play), they are one of the best teams in the world so we will focus on our side. When we focus on the sideout and keep the service hard these matches for us. It will be a fight against Latvia.”

Adrian Gavira, Spain - “Another close match, another loser. For sure we don’t have a good chance to pass the pool but we will fight against the Norwegians. It’s been three matches really close but we didn’t have the luck you need for winning the matches. I think the problem in the three matches was the reception, we didn’t have comfort on the reception. We are professional, we have the mentality we belong in the World Tour Finals, we will fight this afternoon. It will be difficult for sure (against Norway) but we know them, they are in a good moment, they want to win the record of Julius (Brink) and Jonas (Reckermann) and we will try to stop their victories.”  Brink and Reckermann had a 25-match winning streak on the 2009 FIVB World Tour - the best ever by an European team and second best all-time behind Phil Dalhausser/Todd Rogers' 41-match winning streak over two seasons (2010-2011).
