Holler and Schroder one step from dream finale in Doha

Doha, Qatar, November 8, 2014 – Tim Holler and Jonas Schroder kept up their dream start to life on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour when they reached the Doha Open gold medal match on Saturday.

The German pair will face Canada’s Josh Binstock and Sam Schachter after they defeated France’s Youssef Krou and Edouard Rowlandson 2-0 (21-17, 21-13) to guarantee at least silver.

Binstock and Schachter reached their second World Tour final, less than a week after they won their first ever Tour golds at the Parana Open.

The Canadians enjoyed a straightforward 2-0 (21-18, 21-17) win over Russia’s Ruslan Bykanov and Serguei Prokopiev, who were making their debut as a team in the tournament.

Last Sunday, Binstock and Schachter beat Chilean cousins Marco and Esteban Grimalt in the final of the Parana Open before racing across the Atlantic Ocean to compete in Doha.

Doha is making its debut as a World Tour venue. Previously it hosted beach volleyball as part of the Doha 2006 Asian Games. The World Tour is made up of 10 Grand Slam tournaments and eight Opens. The next and final tournament on the 2014 World Tour is the Mangaung Open in South Africa that runs from December 9-14.
