Tuan Chau Island, May 11 2019 – All four pool winners from Friday went on to win their quarterfinals on Saturday in straight sets to move on to Sunday’s semifinals at the women-only one-star stop on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour in Tuan Chau Island.
12th-seeded Romanians Beata Vaida and Ioana-Alexandra Ordean quickly dismissed Switzerland’s Kim Huber and Melina Huebscher on the way to a 2-0 (21-13, 21-12) victory.
In a similar fashion, top-seeded Yukako Suzuki and Yui Nagata of Japan mastered a 2-0 (21-12, 21-13) win over USA’s Kaley Melville and Lindsey Fuller.

Both Russian pairs, second-seeded Ksenia Dabizha and Daria Rudykh and third-seeded Ekaterina Syrtseva and Alexandra Moiseeva achieved the exact same quarterfinal results – 2-0 (21-19, 21-17), against Denmark’s Maria Elisabeth Tyndeskov and Line Trans Hansen and Austria’s Stephanie Wiesmeyr and Anja Doerfler.

The all-Austrian clash between Wiesmeyr and Doerfler and Franziska Friedl and Eva Pfeffer of the first elimination round on Saturday morning was the longest running match of the day, closed at a final score of 2-0 (21-19, 21-15) after 37 minutes of play.
All games on Sunday will be streamed live on the
FIVB YouTube channel. In the first semifinal, starting at 09:00 local time, Syrtseva and Moiseeva will challenge Suzuki and Nagata.
An hour later, at 10:00 local time, Vaida and Ordean will face Dabizha and Rudykh in the second semifinal.
The bronze medal match is scheduled at 14:00 local time.
The big battle for the Tuan Chau Island gold on Vietnamese sand will get underway at 15:00 local time.
