Tokyo Japan, July 27, 2018 – Canada’s Megan and Nicole McNamara are in their first year playing in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour and the twins are having a blast in their fourth stop this summer at the Tokyo 3-star event.

“It’s our first time in Tokyo and we are absolutely loving it,” Nicole said. “It’s really a beautiful place. It’s our kind of city.”
“We went to the famous Shibuya Crossing and we tracked down this nice restaurant downtown that we have read good reviews about,” Megan said. “We’re big sushi fans, so we are really enjoying ourselves here.”
Aside from the famous landmarks and the great cuisine the city has to offer, the exciting double-gender 3-star beach volleyball event is also taking centre stage in the Japanese capital.
Nicole and Megan consider their last couple of World Tour events as great opportunities to get their game to a higher level.
“It’s been an amazing summer,” Nicole explained. “It’s a very different game than what we’re used to playing in collegiate volleyball, but it’s been a great learning experience this summer.
“We are hoping to better our finish in China. We came ninth, which was a little bit disappointing, so we’re aiming for a better finish here.”
“We just want to keep improving in each match to get a little bit better,” Megan added.
The power of sisterhood has played a beautiful role on and off the beach volleyball court for the two Canadian rising stars.
“We had to learn how to channel our sisterhood in a constructive way because it’s easy to get on your sibling and say the hard things, but it’s a work in progress and it is getting a lot better,” Megan said.
“We’re best friends and we do everything together,” Nicole said. “We are pretty similar in all aspects. We have similar grades and we are lucky that we are similar talent-wise in volleyball.”
