Hamburg welcomes the best of the best of international beach volleyball

 
Hamburg, Germany, August 16, 2018 – The Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals started in style as thousands of beach volleyball fans flocked to the stadium am Rothenbaum on Day 1 to watch the best of the best of the game lock horns.

The beach volleyball fever is back in Hamburg. The city on the shores of the Elbe and the Alster is known all over the world for its dedication to the game. And therefore, unsurprisingly, the impressive Centre Court of the Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals was already packed on the first competition day.





Grzegorz Fijalek from Poland, who arrived in Hamburg with a silver medal from the Vienna Major in the bag, admitted that Hamburg is one of his favourite stops of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. “It is always amazing to play in front of such a crowd. The fans in Hamburg love beach volleyball and inspire us to go the extra mile in every single rally.”






Brazil’s rising star and FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking leader Duda Lisboa admitted that she has already lost her heart to one of the youngest fans at the Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals. “He was already here last year. After my first game, he handed me over a photo of us from last your and signed it with ‘from your friend’. This is why I love this game.”





The Norwegian Beach Volleyball World Ranking leaders Anders Mol and Christian Sorum, on the other hand, have already taken the hearts of the German beach volleyball fans by storm. The crowd pleasers have kept a clean sheet and increased their winning streak to impressive 20 consecutive victories (fourteen on the Beach World Tour and six at the European Beach Volleyball Championship in the Netherlands).




The beach volleyball superstars are definitely enjoying themselves in Hamburg. Canadians Brandie Wilkerson and Heather Bansley are the living proof.




One thing is sure: beach volleyball fans can already look forward to Day 2 of the Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals as the there are more very promising matchs coming their way.
