 IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE VIDEO CHALLENGE PROCEDURES:

 

-        At the time of the Challenge request, you MUST use the signal corresponding to the nature of the suspected fault you are challenging.

 

-        For actions that finish the rally, you have a maximum of 5 seconds to make the Challenge request.

 

-        Challenges take precedence over all other match actions e.g. Time out requests, court switches, etc. Accordingly, NO Challenge requests will be accepted after you switch the court. 

 

NOTE that point 8 of the Video Challenge procedures has been adjusted as follows:

 

Teams that interrupt the rally due to a Challenge request that is not part of the challenging options (listed in point 4 in the regulations) will lose the rally automatically and one of their challenges for that set. Additionally, they may be sanctioned for delay, as appropriate.

1. MATCH PROTOCOL – OFFICIAL WARM UP

- PLAYERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO A 3 MINUTE OFFICIAL WARM-UP FOLLOWING THE REFEREE’S COIN TOSS.

- TIME BETWEEN MATCHES IN CASE THE COURT PROGRAMME IS DELAYED WILL BE 7 MINUTES (INCLUDING THE 3 MINUTES ABOVE)

2. UNIFORMS:

THE DISTRIBUTION OF UNIFORMS WILL BE DONE AS FOLLOWS:

- QUALIFICATION MATCHES: 1 KIT PER TEAM

- POOL PLAY MATCHES: 2 KIT PER TEAM

- SINGLE ELIMINATION MATCHES: 1 KIT PER MATCH

- PLAYERS SHOULD BRING THE TWO UNIFORMES RECEIVED FOR POOL PLAY MATCHES.

- PLAYERS SHOULD NOT TAKE OFF UNIFORMS AFTER THE GAME. ALL PLAYERS SHOULD WEAR UNIFORMS WHEN THEY WALK THROUGH MIXED ZONE.

1.       Training

• The training courts (a total of 5 excluding the center court) will be available starting from Saturday March 5th in the venue.
• Please go to the venue and make the reservation by signing the training schedule at the Information desk of the Players’ Lounge.
• Each team is entitled to have maximum 1 training session of 1 hour per day.

 

2.       Preliminary Inquiry

The Preliminary Inquiry will be held in the venue at the Information desk of the players’ lounge. Mandatory attendance is required for both players.

Please bring your passport or ID.

• Men and Women CQPO Preliminary Inquiry: 10:00-12:00, Monday March 7th
• Men and Women QT Preliminary Inquiry: 14:00-19:00, Monday March 7th
• Men and Women MD Preliminary Inquiry: 14:00-19:00, Tuesday March 8th

 

3.       Technical Meeting

• The Main Draw Technical Meeting will be held at 19:30, Tuesday March 8th at Room Sala Mangaratiba (underground) of Windsor Atlantic Hotel.
• No QT Technical Meeting will be organized.
• Mandatory attendance is required for MD Technical meeting for both players. The team manager and coaches are also welcome. During the meeting, detailed information regarding the Rio 2016, protocol of Video Challenge System, LED nets, etc. will be communicated.

 

4.       New Technology

During the Rio Grand Slam, the following new technology will be implemented and will also be used in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games once it is approved by IOC.

• Video Challenge System: Center court for all MD matches (Wednesday March 9th to Sunday March 13th).
• LED Net system: Center court for all MD matches (Wednesday March 9th to Sunday March 13th).

 

5.       Accreditation

The accreditation for the players and coaches/physiotherapist will be distributed at the respective Preliminary Inquiry.

 

6.       Transportation:

As the venue is within walking distance, no transportation will be provided from the Main Draw hotel.
