Di Giantommaso and Silvestre seize gold in Siofok

Siofok, Hungary, August 26, 2018 – The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Siofok 1-star has come to an end with France’s Romain Di Giantommaso and Jeremy Silvestre standing at the top podium spot, while Lithuania’s Patrikas Stankevicius and Matas Navickas and Germany’s Eric Stadie and Robin Sowa finishing with a silver and bronze, respectively.

Di Giantommaso and Silvestre had not lost a single set in the tournament, but the young Lithuanians were up for the challenge to force the tiebreaker. The Frenchmen still claimed gold after recovering in the third frame to record a 2-1 (21-15, 18-21, 15-12) victory.

“This is only our fourth tournament together,” Di Giantommaso said. “After winning the French Championship, we won in Siofok. Super!"

“It’s true that we lost our first set in the final, but we expected a hard game and were successful at the end,” Silvestre added.
