Host Cities and Venue

Umag, Croatia

Umag, Croatia will be the setting for the 2013 FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championships from June 20 to 23 as the annual tournament arrives in the country for the first time in its 11-year history.

Although Croatia has hosted four FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour men’s single gender events from 2005 to 2008 and the FIVB Beach Volleyball U19 World Championships in 2011, it is the first time that it welcomes this age-category World Championship.

Umag is located in the northern west of the country, in the province of Istria. It hosted the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball U19 World Championships. Umag is well known on the sports scene for its annual Croatia Open ATP tennis tournament which welcomes some of the world’s top players, which makes them familiar with organising top-class events and ensuring that fans will get great excitement.

With an economy mainly focussed on tourism, Umag has become a popular area for many travellers in recent years thanks to its seaside location and natural landscapes.
