The new season is aiming to be bigger and better and richer as beach volleyball continues to expand around the world, seeing more places, more players, more passion and more excitement.

With Sydney completed and December a rest month, fans can now look forward to the first 4-star tournament of the season, the DELA Beach Open in The Hague, Netherlands from January 3 to 7. And looking further ahead to the end of February, the first 5-star event of the season will take place in the American city of Fort Lauderdale.

There will be three beach volleyball tournaments each starting in February, March and April before the summer heats up in May, June and July with up to four tournaments in a single weekend, all leading up to the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals in August.

And if you don’t live near a beach, don’t worry. The beach is coming to you. Landlocked cities from Daegu to Moscow to Nanjing will host tournaments. Of course, other events are held in stunning seaside locations such as Monaco, Langkawi and Tokyo, the host of the 2020 Olympics.

So don’t ask, “Where’s the beach?” The beach – and beach volleyball – is everywhere.
