VakifBank retain Women's Club World Championship title

 
Shaoxing, China, December 9, 2018 - VakifBank Istanbul retained their FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship title, following their 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-19) triumph over Minas Tenis Clube on Sunday.

VakifBank's latest victory puts them in the Women's Club World Championship history books as the first team to win the competition three times. 

Eczacibasi Vitra Istanbul claimed the bronze medal with their 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-19) triumph against Brazil's Praia Clube. The two-time world champions finished with four victories in the 12th edition.

Altay Volleyball Club defeated Volero Le Cannet 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-13) to take fifth place, Zhejiang Women's Volleyball Club finished in seventh place after beating Supreme Chonburi 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-13, 25-19).


VakifBank Istanbul completed its back-to-back title win in the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship with a 3-0 win over Minas Tenis Clube.

Sunday highlights:
• VakifBank is the second team to win successive titles at the Club World Championship
• VakifBank is the first team to win the Women's Club World Championship three times
• Zhu's 21-point performance against Minas Tenis Clube made her the best scorer of the 2018 edition with a total of 98 points in five matches
• Zhejiang Women's Volleyball Club's Liu Yanhan was the second best scorer of the competition with 90 points ahead of Gabriela Guimaraes Minas Tenis Clube with a total of 85 points
