Poland's Kantor & Losiak defeat Russian in first men's match

Piotr Kantor / Bartosz Losiak Poland (4) def. Oleg Stoyanovskiy / Igor Velichko Russia (10) 21-18, 21-16 (35 minutes)

Piotr Kantor, Poland – “We didn’t change anything, we played better and we could control the passing.”

Bartosz Losiak, Poland – “We tried to move them around on serve and I think we did because we served some aces, so we started pretty good. We hope to keep the serve until the end of this tournament. I think Europe has a lot of strong teams that’s why the Europe teams are here but also the Brazilian teams changed during the season and that’s why they don’t play here in Hamburg. It’s good for Europe and it shows our good level.”

Oleg Stoyanovskiy, Russia – “It’s an amazing feeling to take part in so big an event from the Beach Majors and play here in front of the spectators. It’s good luck for us we had such good results during the season and we could play here. (Poland) had a very strong serve today, we didn’t manage to make our reception better so I think that’s why we lost. But we are still satisfied about our first game.” (On playing at night): “I’ve never played night matches before and my expectations are really high about this.”

Igor Velichko, Russia – “It’s our first year together and this year was wonderful because we finished the season in the top 10. It’s a perfect result for us and we are very happy about that.”
