Podrascanin continues his career with Trentino

Lausanne, Switzerland, July 14, 2020 – Trentino Volley is set to have a Serbian pair of middle blockers to control the net when the 2020-2021 season of the Italian League starts as the club has signed veteran Marko Podrascanin to join Srecko Lisinac in the team.

The 32-year-old Podrascanin will join the fourth Italian side in his career after playing in the country for the last 13 years. He first featured for Corigliano in the 2007-2008 season and then moved to Macerata (currently Cucine Lube Civitanova) between 2008 and 2016. He most recently spent the last four seasons with Sir Safety Perugia.

He has a storied career in the country, having won the Italian League (2012, 2014 and 2018) and the Italian Cup (2009, 2018 and 2019) three times and the Italian Super Cup on five occasions (2008, 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2019). He was considered the best player of both the League and the Super Cup in 2014 and is the player with most blocking points scored over the last four seasons in the country (510).

In Trento, he’ll be able to replicate the middle blocker pairing with Lisinac  which has been successful for the Serbian national team since 2012. Together, the two blockers have helped their team win the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World League and 2019 European Championships and take bronze at the 2010 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship.

Podrascanin is just one of a handful of new faces announced by Trentino this off-season. The club has also added outside hitter Nimir Abdel-Aziz, outside hitter Dick Kooy and libero Salvatore Rossini, among others.
