Oman building towards World Tour hosting duties

Lausanne, Switzerland, November 14, 2017 – Oman boosted their beach volleyball credentials before hosting an FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour tournament in 2018 after Haitham al Shuraiqi and Ahmed al Hosn won silver at the Arab Beach Volleyball World Championship.

Oman will host a one-star tournament in its capital Muscat from March 14-17 next year and their duo’s success and the fans who attended show that the host nation has high hopes for its first FIVB tournament-hosting duties.

Qatar’s Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan won the title with a straight sets victory, 2-0 (21-19, 21-18). It was the third time in succession that Qatar’s men have won the title.

Oman nearly had two teams on the podium, but Nouh al Jalboobi and Mazin al Hashmi lost out to Lebanon in the bronze medal match, 2-0.

Meanwhile in the women's competition, a Moroccan pair finished ahead of teams from Sudan and Iraq.
