Brazilians out-last Dutch in three sets

Maria Antonelli / Carolina Salgado Brazil (4) def. Sanne Keizer / Madelein Meppelink Netherlands (8) 21-14, 16-21, 15-8 (43)

Maria Antonelli, Brazil - “I think our big mistake in Vienna was that we decided to change a strategy that had worked against them before. We returned to it here and it was obviously the right choice. Playing against them is always tough because they have a great setting ability and it gives them a lot of possibilities. We need to be patient to understand and react to what they do, and we did that today.”

Carolina Salgado, Brazil - “Against them it’s always very tough, they are a great team. We talked about the game in Vienna and figured what we could have done differently, and it worked, so I’m very happy. Now we rest and keep focused because we have a very important game coming up.”

Sanne Keizer, The Netherlands - “We are a little bit tired, but that’s no excuse because we were tired in Vienna too. The fact is that we couldn’t show our best level and we couldn’t find ways to let it go and focus on the next point. It’s bad that our game isn’t coming out this tournament, but we still have one more game to go and we’ll fight with all we have to make things better.”
