Medal distribution day in Lucerne

Lucerne, Switzerland, May 13, 2018 – The final competition day of the three-star $150,000 double-gender Lucerne stop on the 2018 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour is here. All the medallists will be known later at the LIDO event venue on the shores of Lake Lucerne.

First on the schedule are the two men’s semifinals. Serbia’s Lazar Kolaric and Stefan Basta, who made it this far all the way from the qualifications, and Indonesia’s Ade Candra Rachmawan and Mohammad Ashfiya are already warming up for their game at 10:05 local time.

The second semifinal is set for an hour later. With home heroes Adrian Heidrich and Mirco Gerson taking part, a large crowd is expected to flock to the centre court and support them in their encounter with wild cards John Mayer and Trevor Crabb from the United States.

The losers of the two semifinals will contest the bronze medal at 13:05. The winners will battle it out for gold after the big final’s first whistle is blown at 16:05.

Saturday’s women’s semifinals are already history, so Sunday’s competition on the ladies’ side will start with the bronze medal match, scheduled for 12:35. The teams of Joy Stubbe and Marleen Ramond-van Iersel from the Netherlands and Emily Stockman and Kelley Larsen from USA will take a shot at a spot on the podium.

The all-AVC women’s final will start at 15:05, with top-seeded Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho and third-seeded Fan Wang and Xinyi Xia from China. While the Australians are aiming for their third gold on the 2018 World Tour, Wang and Xia have yet to top the podium together as a pair.

All the matches on Sunday will be streamed live on the FIVB YouTube channel.
