Japanese pairs lead Satun men's qualification

 
Satun, Thailand, April 8, 2018 – Japan’s Takumi Takahashi/Yusuke Ishijima and Yuya Ageba/Katsuhiro Shiratori kept their composure to progress to the main draw of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour SMM Pak Bara Beach Satun 1-star at the Pak Bara Beach on Sunday.



Takahashi/Ishijima and Ageba/Shiratori join the Japanese entries in the main draw, after winning both their matches in the qualification round.

Takahashi/Ishijima opened their campaign with a 2-0 (24-22, 21-14) win over Sweden’s Ludvig Simonsson/Linus Frantzich, then took on Australia’s Thomas Hodges/Marcus Ferguson for another straight-set 2-0 (21-19, 21-14) win.

Ageba/Shiratori eliminated their compatriots Hitoshi Murakami/Junki Hatabe 2-0 (21-17, 21-17) and ended the Kazakh pair Alexey Sidorenko/Alexandr Dyachenko’s hopes of moving on to the next round with a 2-1 (21-13, 18-21, 15-12) win.

Spain’s Raul Mesa/Christian Garcia and Austria’s Peter Eglseer/Alexander Huber showed great spirit to win both matches in the qualification round.

The Spaniards secured a spot in the main draw with a steady 2-0 (21-19, 21-19) win over Austria’s Florian Schnetzer/Daniel Mullner, while the remaining Austrian duo Peter Eglseer/Alexander Huber conquered the 2-1 (21-17, 17-21, 15-7) bout against Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Yakovlev/Sergey Bogatu.
