Turkish hopes alive of double glory in Alanya

 
Alanya, Turkey, June 2, 2018 – Two Turkish teams remain in contention for home success as the 1-Star Alanya Open reached the semifinal stages at Cleopatra Beach on Saturday. 

Aleyna Vence and Bugra Eryildiz will take on Italy’s Gaia Traballi and Silvia Constantini in their first FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour semi after they defeated Russia’s Ekaterina Syrtseva and Anna Alova 2-0 (21-15, 21-17). 


Traballi and Constantini will also appear in their first semifinal after they ended victorious, 2-1 (21-23, 21-13, 15-7), against fellow Italians Arianna Barboni and Agata Zuccarelli.

In the men’s semifinals Volkan Gogtepe and Murat Giginoglu face Oleksii Denin and Denys Denysenko of Ukraine. In the quarterfinals the first seeds beat compatriots Safa Urlu and Hasan Huseyin Mermer 2-0 (25-23, 22-20).

Should Gogtepe and Giginoglu win they will play the winners of the other semifinal between Switzerland’s Florian Breer and Yves Haussener and Russia’s Maksim Hudyakov and Ruslan Bykanov. 
In the quarters Breer and Haussener beat Austria’s Thomas Kunert and Philipp Waller 2-0 (21-18, 21-17), while the Russian duo defeated Mads Rosager and Martin Trans Hansen of Denmark 2-0 (21-19, 21-16). 

The second women’s semifinal will pit Germany’s Sarah Schneider and Viktoria Seeber against Russia’s Daria Rudykh and Elizaveta Zayonchkovskaya. The German pair held off Austria's Dorina Klinger and Valerie Teufl 2-1 (21-18, 19-21, 15-12), while the Russians beat Aline Chamereau and Ophelie Lusson of France 2-0 (21-16, 21-18).
