Gold the target as Mersin 3-Star draws to a close

Mersin, Turkey, May 6, 2018 – There will be new FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour gold medallists as the Mersin 3-Star tournament draws to a close on Sunday.

None of the four pairings in the women’s and men’s draw have previously won a World Tour tournament together. Only the Netherlands’ Madelein Meppelink and Sanne Keizer know what it takes to top a World Tour podium, albeit with different partners.

The action begins in the morning with the semifinals before the medal matches bring the action on Turkey’s south coast to a close later in the day.

Meppelink and Keizer will take on Brazil’s Josemari Alves and Liliane Maestrini, while Austria’s Katharina Schutzenhofer and Lena Plesiutschnig will take on Slovakia’s Andrea Strbova and Natalia Dubovcova.

In the men’s competition third seeds Diaz Nivaldo and Sergio Gonzalez are the highest ranked team remaining, and the third seeds will face the Czech Republic’s Ondrej Perusic and David Schweiner.

In the other match Russia’s Ilya Leshukov and Konstantin Semenov will take on Switzerland’s Mirco Gerson and Adrian Heidrich.
