Social media review: Sydney's heroes celebrate as excitement grows in Poland

Lausanne, Switzerland, November 27, 2017 – The final event on the 2017 beach volleyball calendar ended with celebrations as local stars Mariafe Artacho del Solar/Taliqua Clancy and Canada’s Ben Saxton/Grant O’Gorman claimed gold at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour 2-star event in Sydney, Australia.

Excitement is also brewing ahead of the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship which will take place in Poland from December 12-17.

And here’s a round-up of the latest volleyball and beach volleyball posts as the players look forward to the next events on their agendas.

@mariafe_beach1 and @taliqua finish 2017 with gold at home

Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy used home court advantage to win the last FIVB World Tour stop this year at Manly Beach in Sydney.





First time’s a charm for new partners @bensaxton and @instagrant1234

Ben Saxton and Grant O’Gorman won a first gold medal at the World Tour in Sydney, which was their first international tournament together.





London 2012 gold medallist Maxim Mikhailov earns Player of the Year honour at @CEVolleyball #VolleyGala

Multi-titled Russia and Zenit Kazan star Maxim Mikhaylov added another star to his badge, claiming the Best Volleyball Player of 2017 in Europe at the CEV Volleyball Gala. His team will take on seven others at the Men's Club World Championship in Poland in December.



Teams are gearing up for #FIVBMensCWC

Three-time winners Sada Cruzeiro of Brazil are eyeing a fourth and third consecutive title at the Men’s Club World Championship from December 12 to 17.



Zenit Kazan players are up for the challenge after finishing second to the Brazilian powerhouse club in 2015 and 2016.



Italian club Lube Civitanova are also top contenders and feature a formidable starting six composed of international stars like Osmany Juantorena, Micah Christenson, Tsvetan Sokolov and Jennia Grebennikov.



Bolivar of Argentina will make back-to-back appearances in the Men’s Club World Championship. They recently won against River Plate in straight sets.



China-based club Shanghai and Iran-based Sarmayeh Bank Tehran VC will make their debut in the Men’s Club World Championship with key players including the likes of Julien Lyneel (Shanghai) and Farhad Ghaemi and Lukasz Zygadlo (Sarmayeh Bank).





Ghaemi’s team-mate in the national team, Milad Ebadipour, is playing for Polish club PGE Skra Beltachow. The other Polish club is Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle, who will be led by the captain of 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League champions France, Benjamin Toniutti.
