Junki Hatabe and Momota Shimada from Japan opened the men’s qualifications on the centre court playing against Norway’s Sadegh Mohajer/Kjetil Tellnes. The strong defence game of the Norwegians and Mohajer’s incredible service contributed towards a landslide 21-12 first set win for the Scandinavian side. After the second set (21-19), however, the Japanese had drawn level in the match and by showing much determination, Hatabe and Shimada emerged victorious from the tiebreak as well (15-13).
