10 teams from 7 countries out for 5 main draw berths in Cambodia

 
Phnom Penh, Cambodia, May 3, 2018 - The Anchor International Beach Volleyball Carnival Phnom Penh 2018 women's only FIVB World Tour two-star event kicks off tomorrow with 10 teams in the running for five available tickets to the 24-team Main Draw.

Japan's Chiyo Suzuki / Reika Murakami head the Qualification Tournament as top seeds, after the pair finished 5th at both the one-star Langkawi tournament last week in Malaysia and the Shepparton, Australia event earlier in the season. The Japanese pair got a direct bye from the qualifiers to the Main Draw.

Shu Woon Joo / Lai Jessie of Malaysia are the No. 2 seeds. The pair were 13th last week in Langkawi. They got paired in the qualifiers against Germany's Viktoria Seeber / Karoline Froehlich.

The six qualifying pairs from tomorrow's action join the 18 teams already directly entered in the Main Draw beginning later on Friday and headed by top seeds Phoebe Bell / Jessyka Ngauamo of Australia.

The semifinals and finals of the Phnom Penh event on Diamond Island are scheduled for Sunday.
