Scarbrough/Davis storm to gold in Bangkok

Bangkok, Thailand, May 13, 2018 – The United States’ Aurora Davis and Bree Scarbrough made a golden run on Sunday by storming to a 2-1 (21-13, 17-21, 15-8) win over Spain’s Maria Belen Carro/Paula Soria in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Bangkok 1-star at the King Mongkut's Institute of Technology.

Scarbrough/Davis put pressure from the net and the service line, building their momentum to win 21-13 against Soria/Carro, who struggled to counteract in the first set. The Spanish pair regrouped with better attack placements to equalise at 21-18, then the American duo sealed their gold medal victory with a 4-0 start and Scarbrough’s block and ace finish.

Scarbrough/Davis earned their first ever World Tour gold in Bangkok, while Soria/Carro finished with their second silver medals.

Kusano/Take now have two medals out of six FIVB World Tour events this season. Their Bangkok 1-star bronze medal is a follow-up to their gold medal win at the Manila 1-star last week.
