Bangkok, Thailand, May 10, 2018 – Russia’s Aleksandr Kramarenko/Taras Myskiv scored double straight-set wins in the qualification round of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Bangkok 1-star at the King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology on Thursday.
Kramarenko/Myskiv posted a 2-0 (21-14, 22-20) win over Israel’s Shani Cohen/Netanel Ohana in the first round and a 2-0 (21-15, 21-12) follow-up win against Australia’s Paul Burnett/Maximillian Guehrer to secure their main draw spot.
Myskiv will look to improve on his last two World Tour 1-star silver medal finishes with his new partner Kramarenko. Myskiv placed second in Langkawi and Manila with Petr Bakhnar.

South Africa’s Mthokozisi Mndingi/Leo Williams took a more difficult path to the main draw with two tie-break wins against Austrian sides. The South Africans recorded a 2-1 (15-21, 21-17, 16-14) win against Felix Friedl/Maximilian Trummer in the first round, before eluding Moritz Kindl/Marian Klaffinger 2-1 (20-22, 21-18, 15-13) in the second round.
Japan’s Yoshiumi Hasegawa/Keisuke Shimizu defeated Oman’s Nouh Al-Jalbubi/Mazin Alhashmi 2-1 (18-21, 21-14, 15-11) and Thailand’s Patiphan Chambuntha/Dunwinit Kaewsai 2-1 (21-13, 21-18), while Spain’s Alejandro Huerta/Javier Huerta beat Canada’s William Hoey/Liam Kopp 2-0 (21-19, 21-18) and Sweden’s Jakob Molin/Linus Tholse 2-1 (21-18, 17-21, 15-13).
