Tuan Chau, Vietnam, May 8, 2018 - Two teams got direct byes from the Qualification Tournament to the Main Draw, leaving another four to battle tomorrow for two remaining tickets at the Tuan Chau HaLong Open 2018 women's one-star tournament of the FIVB World Tour in Vietnam.
The single-elimination qualifiers begin Wednesday morning at 09:00 local time (02:00 GMT) with an all-Sweden clash beteween Fanny Lindstrom / Sara Malmstrom and Talar Kirkor / Anniken Radstrom. This is followed by Russia's Ekaterina Filina / Mariia Kontorskaia taking on Israel's Michal Barannik / Anita Deev.
Top-seeded Yui Nagata / Minori Kumada of Japan and Sofia Starikov / Noy Chorin of Israel advanced automatically to the 16-team Main Draw which begins on Thursday.
The Main Draw is headed by Japan's Sayaka Mizoe / Suzuka Hashimoto, who just last weekend picked up a silver medal at the two-start World Tour event in Phnom Penh.
The Czech Republic's Sara Olivova / Karolina Rehackova, who finished 9th in Phom Penh, are seeded No. 2 in the Main Draw of Tuan Chau this week.
