Porec to return to World Tour

 
Lausanne, Switzerland, May 22, 2018 – The FIVB is pleased to confirm that Porec will return as a host venue on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour when it hosts a 1-Star tournament from July 5-8.

The tournament will take place in Zelena Laguna Bay, and 16 teams per gender will play for a share of the €10,000 prize purse at a venue that features a 600-seat stadium.

The Croatian town last hosted a World Tour event in 2017, the Porec Major which followed on from Major Series events in 2015 and 2016. Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes and Sarah Pavan won women’s gold in 2017 and Brazil’s Pedro Solberg and Gustavo ‘Guto’ Carvalhaes topped the men’s podium.
 

Zelena Laguna will host the event in Porec in 2018

The Porec tournament will take place the week after the World Tour visits Warsaw, Poland, and in the same week as events in Espinho, Portugal and Anapa, Russia. The world beach volleyball circuit then moves to Gstaad, Switzerland and Daegu, Korea with the best under-19s travelling to Nanjing, China for the FIVB Volleyball U19 World Championships from July 10 to 15.



There are a further two updates to the 2018 World Tour. The tournament that will take place in Agadir, Morocco from July 26-29 has been downgraded from a 3-Star to a 2-Star event, while the 1-Star tournament in Kochi, India has been cancelled.
