Last four games at Warsaw - all live on YouTube

Warsaw, Poland, July 1, 2018 – The medals and the largest pieces of the $300,000 pie at the double-gender four-star Warsaw stop on the 2018 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour will be distributed on Sunday, as the third-place games and the gold medal matches are scheduled to take place at the Monta Beach Volley Club in the Polish capital. All four duels will be streamed live on the FIVB YouTube channel.

The women’s bronze medal match will open the last competition day at 12.35 local time. Brazil’s Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda Santos Lisboa - Duda, seeded sixth, will face 17th-seeded Americans Brittany Hochevar and Kelly Claes.

One hour later, at 13.35, the spectators at the centre court will get to enjoy the gold medal battle between 10th-seeded Germans Chantal Laboureur and Julia Sude and fourth-seeded Canadians Heather Bansley and Brandie Wilkerson.

At 14.50 it will be the men’s turn to play. Fourth-seeded Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen of the Netherlands and 10th-seeded Janis Smedins and Aleksandrs Samoilovs of Latvia will battle it out for the bronze.

The jewel of Sunday’s competition programme, especially for the home fans in Poland, the men’s final, is scheduled for 16.05, with the local heroes, top-seeded Poles Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Losiak, locking horns with third-seeded Brazilians Vitor Goncalves Felipe and Evandro Goncalves Oliveira Junior in a titanic duel for the gold.

“We are very happy that we are going to fight for gold in front of the home crowd,” Kantor said. “In every set we need to get two more points than the opponents. We will be fully focused and we will do our best. There is no pressure and the spectators will give us extra motivation. In the difficult quarterfinal against the Czechs yesterday, the cheering fans carried us to the victory, so hopefully it will be the same in the final.”
