Sinnema and Bloem will make their debut as a team at the DELA Beach Open in The Hague, Netherlands from January 3 to 7, the first 4-star event on the 2017-2018 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.

"I always combined my beach volleyball career with my study of medicine," said Bloem. "Especially during my internship it was not possible to choose sport full-time. I had been working for two months when national coach Richard de Kogel came to me with the offer to play with Jolien in the Netherlands Beach Volleyball Team. I was surprised by the offer, and after I thought about it, I decided to go for it.

"I am really looking forward to starting and I am confident that we will be able to develop quickly under the guidance of Richard. The Netherlands Beach Volleyball Team is the optimal environment to get the most out of myself, and I'm curious to see what we can achieve."

Sinnema added: "Laura is a player with whom I immediately feel good when we step on to a court together. I think Laura has the ability to become a good defender, especially with the help of Richard. I am looking forward to the new season, with the DELA Beach Open and the European Championships as highlights."
